Why Choose Human Resource Management?

Human resource management is about people. Human resource management focuses on the people and activities at organizations that affect the behaviors of its employees. This human resources study course will prepare you to site for one of the following certification exams.

The study course is offered over 10 Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Fall and Spring Semester by four instructors who are experts in this field. Content in the course covers both the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) body of knowledge and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) body of competency and knowledge. Before you apply for the study course, visit the HRCI or SHRM for the current eligibility requirements of each exam.  You must register separately for the certifying exams


The upcoming dates for Spring 2018 are February 3, 10, 17, and 24; March 10, 17, 24, and 31; and April 7 and 14. Registration for Spring 2018 is now open and will close on Friday, February 2, 2018.

The registration fee for the study course is $1,182, which includes 10 face-to-face sessions and any workshop handouts that are used by the instructors. The required textbook for the course is Noe, R. A., Hollenbeck, J. R., Gerhart, B., & Wright, P. M. (2015). Human Resource Management: Gaining a Competitive Advantage (10 ed.). New York: McGraw-Hill Irwin. ISBN: 9781259578120.

We have partnered with McGraw-Hill to put together a book purchase package required for the class. In addition to receiving the paperback copy of the required textbook, you will have access to CONNECT, McGraw Hill’s learning management system for $125. You will have access to additional quizzes, case studies, and other information to bolster your learning of the material covered in the book. Program Outcomes

This human resources certification study course will prepare you to sit for the following exams. Certification requirements include education, experience, and a passing score on an exam that covers the major content areas of human resource knowledge.

You may also choose to pursue the certificate in human resource management offered by the Department of Management and International Business. The certificate is a total of six courses that gives you more in-depth knowledge on specific human resource topics. After completing and passing a prior learning assessment, this study course can be added to your transcript as the equivalent to MGT: 3210.
