Overview
Build in-demand skills through an award-winning government-contracting program. The Ohio Procurement Internship Program (OPIP) gives Wright State students practical experience in procurement and government markets.
The program combines a specialized three-credit procurement course in the spring semester with a paid, full-time summer internship at an Ohio small or medium-sized business. Students develop professional skills while helping participating companies pursue opportunities to sell goods and services to government agencies.

MGT 4800 - Fundamentals of Government Procurement (3 credits)
Participants must enroll in MGT 4800 during the spring semester. The course prepares students for their internship assignments through topics such as:
- Capability statements
- Business certifications
- Government-opportunity research and mining
- Request for proposal (RFP) analysis
- Proposal writing and review
- Procurement strategies
- Contract formation
Planning note: Please reserve room in your spring schedule for this required three-credit course. Course dates and registration details will follow Wright State's spring-semester calendar.
Summer Internship Placement
Students will be evaluated during the spring course and matched with an Ohio business seeking to expand its government-contracting activity. Selected students then complete a paid, full-time summer internship and apply their classroom learning to real procurement opportunities.
This experience allows students to build a professional network, demonstrate their capabilities to employers, and develop skills that can strengthen their competitiveness for future employment.
The program is open to eligible Wright State undergraduate and graduate students. Space is limited. Qualified applicants may be interviewed by representatives of the Raj Soin College of Business and the Ohio Department of Development before final admission.
