Our faculty engages in research that enhances our versatile curriculum and opens avenues for pedagogical, scholarly, and community engagement within the university and the region.
Our mix of applied and theoretical research utilizes a variety of methods and approaches. This research contributes to a number of fields and we have developed an expertise in a variety of issues:

- Householdsā economic conditions and the economy
- Gender and economics
- Public economics and education
- Social Economics, institutions, and environment
- Innovative research methods in economics
Those research clusters are explored from different perspectives and utilize various methods, allowing us to engage in interdisciplinary collaborations and problemāsolving in the regional economy.
Our economics instructors have also formed a working group on teaching introduction to mathematical methods and modeling, implementing those methods into our undergraduate curriculum. The department is represented by faculty members in regional, national, and international research networks and collaborations.
