Undergraduate Admission

All students who are interested in a degree in business should apply through Wright State University's Office of Undergraduate Admissions. When applying, students should indicate on the degree application their preferred major within the college. Students are required to complete the program of study that is in effect at the time of their admission to the Raj Soin College of Business.

Specific requirements for admission to the college are listed below.

Current Wright State Students

All students intending to major in business will be admitted to the Raj Soin College of Business. Students must meet the following admission requirements to be admitted to a major program of study:

  1. 2.5 minimum cumulative grade point average
  2. 30 semester credit hours earned

Returning Students

Students who return to Wright State after being absent for three or more semesters must reapply for admission and satisfy the same admission requirements listed above. Returning students will be required to complete the program requirements that are in effect at the time of their re-admission to the Raj Soin College of Business.


Transfer Students

Transfer students seeking admission to the Raj Soin College of Business must also satisfy the criteria for Wright State University students that are listed above. Acceptable transfer credit will satisfy any of the above requirements. Transfer students must have a cumulative 2.5 GPA (including all transfer credits) and 30 semester credit hours earned to be admitted to a major program of study. Students not meeting the 2.5 cumulative GPA requirement can petition for admission. To qualify for an admission petition, students must have a minimum 2.4 cumulative GPA and earned at least a 2.5 GPA in all business courses. See your business academic advisor for more information on petitioning for admission.

Enrollment in Upper-Level Business Courses

3000-level Business Classes

Students must complete the following 7 lower-level classes in order to register for 3000-level business classes:

  • ACC 2010 – Principles of Accounting I
  • EC 2040 – Principles of Microeconomics
  • EC 2050 – Principles of Macroeconomics
  • MS 2040 – Introduction to Business Statistics
  • EC 1050 – Elementary Mathematical Economic and Business Models and Methods (MTH 2280 – Business Calculus will substitute for EC 1050)
  • MKT 2500 – Principles of Marketing
  • ENG 1100 – Academic Writing and Reading


4000-level Business Classes

Students must complete the 7 classes listed above and the 4 classes listed below in order to register for 4000-level business classes:

  • ACC 2020 – Principles of Accounting II
  • MS 2050 – Quantitative Business Modeling
  • FIN 2210 – Financial Management I
  • ENG 2100 – Research Writing and Argumentation

Individual prerequisites listed on 3000- and 4000-level business classes in addition to the 11 classes listed above must also be met. Concurrent registration is not permitted. Prerequisites must be completed in order to register for 3000- and 4000-level business classes.
