Contact List for Finance Club Guest Speakers 2020-2021

We have had the pleasure of welcoming wonderful guest speakers this year. Thanks are due to our Program Chair Taylor Ledbetter who did a phenomenal job connecting us even with adversities from the pandemic. Our guest speakers have asked for an ongoing relationship with our university and encourage our students to contact them inquiring about employment opportunities. Please view the links below to learn more about the organizations and feel free to email our contacts asking about internship or full-time opportunities.

New York Study Trip

The Finance Club's New York Trip connects Wright State students to internationally recognized financial institutions in the NYC metropolitan area. The trip is typically four days long and held over spring break. Last year's trip was led and directed by our finance professor Matthew Ingram. In Spring 2020, the club visited ten institutions including MarketAxess, the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), Bloomberg L.P., Oppenheimer Holdings, the Center for Financial Research and Analysis (CFRA), Moody's Investors Service, the New York Stock Exchange, Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI), HSBC, and C.V. Starr. Students ask financial professionals questions, request internship opportunities, and get to see the Financial District in Lower Manhattan. On past trips, the club has also visited American Express, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, Citigroup Headquarters, BlackRock Investment Management, and Standard and Poor's.

Students fund-raise for the trip by selling pies via the Pie Peddler during the beginning of the fall semester. Pie order forms and payments are usually due in late October in the finance office and delivered to the office in early November. See a PDF of the pie order form (2020) below. All the pies have a selling price of $10.00 each, and for every cream and fruit pie you sell, a profit of $3.25 is added to your fundraising account and pecan pies have a profit of $2.25 each. Customers can pay by cash or make a check payable to "The Wright State Finance Club". See the document below "Fundraising for Finance Club Trip - Guide for Finances" for detailed requirements of the trip.
