Our program was the first business school program in Ohio accredited by the Computer Accreditation Commission of Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and one of the first twenty programs nationally to achieve this accreditation. The field of information systems management is continuing to grow as demand for professionals who can implement and upgrade computer systems are vital to the economy. This major prepares you for careers that require knowledge in systems analysis, business systems designs, and information technology management. Most of our graduates leave with internships or job opportunities.
Classes are focused on experiential learning, allowing students to apply concepts learned in class to real-world situations. We encourage our students to take internships during their summer semesters. Internships are coordinated through the college’s career management office, which makes sure you are aware of hiring information and job and internships announcements.
Megan Brdicka is a senior to graduate in Spring 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems. She enjoys the unique learning opportunities provided by the major and is gaining skills in both technical and business concepts, which are necessary to succeed in the business world. Last summer, Megan was able to practice the business and technical skills in real action through an internship at CareSource. She was excited for the opportunity where she was able to apply her knowledge in the actual business world.

If you are a current student and wish to change majors, go to the WINGS major/minor change request form and change your major. If you are an undecided/exploratory student, talk to your advisor about majoring in management information systems.
In this program, you will get a broad education in core business skills such as accounting, finance, marketing, management, and operations management along with emphasizing business and organizational studies and information systems technology. You will study business systems analysis, business system design, and computer programming. You will also focus on developing, implementing, and maintaining information systems in a variety of organizational environments. Coursework includes information system design, development methodologies, database management systems, electronic business, and data communications.
Within this major, you can choose the business analytics concentration, which focuses on using data to better understand business operations, predict customer demands, monitor production, and improve efficiency and quality.
Our Bachelor of Science program in Management Information Systems is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET under the General Criteria and the Information Systems Program Criteria.
