New Math Requirement Option

EC 1050 (Elementary Mathematical Economic and Business Models and Methods) can now be taken instead of MTH 2280 (Business Calculus) as the final math requirement for all of the business majors!

EC 1050:

  • Covers the same core math topics as MTH 2280
  • Satisfies the math requirement for all of the business majors (substitutes for MTH 2280)
  • Better aligned with the needs of business students
  • Taught by business faculty with a focus on business applications
  • Avoids teaching mathematical methods and applications not used in business
  • Expected to increase the number of students successfully completing the business math requirement
  • Expected to improve student performance of students in upper level business courses
  • Expected to improve graduates’ performance with the use of math in their business careers

Thus, when you are ready to take the final math class in your business course requirements, you should strongly consider EC 1050.
