A finance degree will give you the analytical skills needed for a successful professional career in today’s global financial markets. Our curriculum gives you a strong foundation in all areas of finance paired with the flexibility to tailor your degree to your future career plans. Our degree is also an University Affiliation Program of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute, covering more than 70 percent of their body of knowledge.
Every business, organization, and governmental agency makes these decisions on a daily basis and our degree will put you in demand in a world where the accumulation, management, and preservation of wealth matter. Organizations and companies of all sizes and industries employ finance professionals, making our graduates in demand in a variety of industries and jobs. You will find that finance professionals are essential to the decision-making process of business, nonprofits, and governmental organizations. Our graduates’ pass rates on the CFA exam is 60 percent, higher than the national average, and certification is essential if you are interested in financial analyst positions.

In your finance coursework, you will learn from qualified professionals who are active in finance issues and work on projects that allow you to apply theoretical concepts to real-world situations. Our investing class allows students to manage a real portfolio worth $1.2 million in our award-winning Soin Trading Center. Qualified finance and financial services majors can gain real-world experience through and internship or cooperative education experience, and through a capstone course where you develop a comprehensive financial plan for an individual or business. Internships are one-time work arrangement that gives you a chance to put your classroom knowledge to work in a business setting while cooperative education experiences allow you to alternate periods of work and school—both give you experience that will help you in your career goals. Our Leading Innovation in Finance Today and Tomorrow (LIFT2) Symposium brings leading experts to discuss the most pressing issues in the world of finance and financial services today.

Review the admission requirements and complete the admission application. Identify whether you will be majoring in finance.
If you are a current student and wish to change majors, go to the WINGS major/minor change request form and change your major. If you are an undecided/exploratory student, talk to your advisor about majoring in finance.
If you complete the program, you will graduate with a Bachelor in Business with a major in finance. The core courses cover all aspects of the theory and practice of financial management, including courses in accounting, investments, financial planning and analysis, international finance and managerial finance. A sequence of courses is available for students interested earning the Certified in Financial Management designation.
If you are interested in finance and accounting, you should consider a dual major in these programs.
