You will find that finance professionals are in demand as individuals and institutions navigate a constantly changing financial market. If you graduate from this program, you will be eligible to sit for the comprehensive Certified Financial Planner (CFP)® examination. Our students pass the comprehensive CFP® exam with a long run 75 percent pass rate well above the national average.
In your financial services coursework, you will learn from qualified professionals who are active in financial services issues and work on projects that allow you to apply theoretical concepts to real-world situations. Our investing class allows students to manage a real portfolio worth $1.2 million in our award-winning Soin Trading Center. Qualified finance and financial services majors can gain real-world experience through an internship or cooperative education experience, and through a capstone course where you develop a comprehensive financial plan for an individual or business. Internships are one-time work arrangement that gives you a chance to put your classroom knowledge to work in a business setting while cooperative education experiences allow you to alternate periods of work and school—both give you experience that will help you in your career goals. Contact the Department of Finance and Financial Services for more information.
